The Union of Spiritist Study Centres in Switzerland, UCESS, was founded in 1998 in Gryon by the CESG, ESTESIA and AFFA Spiritist centres. UCESS is the French acronym for Union des Centres d’Etudes Spirites en Suisse. The Union is a not-for-profit association and has been created in response to a request by the International Spiritist Council, who expressed the need for having responsible entities in each country in order to make the Spiritism dissemination and exchanges easier at international level.
Spiritual centres are places to study the Spiritual Laws which rule the universe, our origins and our destiny. They are places which welcome everyone, provide guidance, consolation, spiritual treatment and somewhere to pray. They are intended for all people without discrimination, as well as for Spirits (human beings who have already left the physical life).
Each Spiritist centre is independent and operates in its own way, taking into account the circumstances, interests and needs of its members. However they have a common base which is the teachings of Jesus from a Spiritist perspective as codified by Allan Kardec.
The objective is man’s spiritual and moral improvement, starting with himself. The change of attitudes promotes a beneficial effect on us, on our neighbour and on our environment. We also have a responsibility to society and this requires an active participation for its progress.
The success of a Spiritist centre can be measured by the endeavours which each of its members make to improve themselves. This results from an in-depth study of Spiritism, and above all, from its practice in everyday life.
